Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

If I live out of state, do I have to pay sales tax?
If Guitar Center has a store located in your state, then you do have to pay sales tax.

Can I use a credit card for payment if I am not at the store and want to have the instrument shipped to me?
Although we do encourage the use of Bank wire transfers, we do accept credit card orders within the continental US. The billing address and shipping address must be the same. Call us at 323-874-2302 for more details.

What do your condition ratings mean?
We realize that the condition scale varies dramatically from dealer to dealer, and sometimes even from individual to individual within an organization. For the record... This is how we rate our instruments:

10 - (Dead mint or NOS) This instrument show no evidence that it has ever been played. It is in the same condition that it was sent to a dealer from the factory. Most will still have the factory protective materials (plastic flim protecting the pickguard, etc.) attached, original hanging tags and factory provided accessories (polish cloths, tools, etc.)

9.5 - (mint) This instrument is in perfect condtion; it has no sign of playing wear whatsoever.

9 - (near mint) This instrument is very close to mint condition, but it shows some indication that it has been played.

8.5 - (excellent) This instrument shows the slightest normal cosmetic wear (slight fretwear, pick scratches) and/or some very slight finish checking.

7.5 - 8 - (very good) This instrument shows light, normal cosmetic wear, and/or average finish checking. It may have had minor parts replaced or missing (tuner, etc.)

6.5 - 7 - (good) This is what we would call a "players" guitar. It has medium, normal wear. It's not beat up, but will have signs that it has really been played (belt-buckle marks, wear through the finish, dings, etc.) It may have had major parts replaced (pickups, tremolo system), repairs, it may have been refinished, or it may have had other after-market modifications.

6 and below...Honestly, we very rarely offer instruments in this category... unless it has some other celebrity or collectable interest.
