Introduced in 1952, the Fender Twin featured a 2x12" speaker configuration, tweed covering, and two 6L6 power tubes supplying 25 watts of power. In '58, Fender boosted the power output to 80 watts with a quad of 5881 output tubes. Known as the "high power" Twin, these models have become the most sought after by both players and collectors. In 1963, Fender added reverb to the design and the Twin Reverb was born. Throughout the years, the ever-popular Twin has had many versions, including the Twin Reverb, Twin Reverb II, Red Knob Twin (often referred to as the "evil Twin"), and, most recently, the '65 reissue. |

The Gretsch company got a relatively early start with electric guitar production, selling their first models by 1939. However, it wasn't until 1954 that Gretsch became a major player in the electric market. The Electro-II was renamed the Country Club and steadily gained popularity. Two models that stand out the most from this time period of Gretsch are the 6120 Chet Atkins and the White Falcon. Gretsch has enjoyed a position as one of Americas classic guitar companies ever since. |

Developed by Leo Fender and launched in 1950, the Broadcaster was soon changed to Telecaster to avoid confusion with the name of a drum model produced by Gretsch. During a short interval, It had no model designation on the headstock, hence the term "nocaster". It has remained a staple of the Fender line for nearly 60 years. |

Most amp enthusiasts know the story: Jim Marshall ran a London music store in an era (the early 1960's) when demand for Fender amps far outstripped supply, and, in an effort to copy the Bassman, inadvertently invented the sound of hard rock, and the look of the amp stack. While Marshall collectors can spend a lifetime tracking down the hundreds of species, the cornerstone pieces are; The JTM45 head; The "Small box" 50w; the 100w Super Bass/ Super Lead "Plexis". Legendary (and scarce) combos include "The Bluesbreaker" and "The 18-watt". Marshall's early "Glory Days" came to a gradual close around 1973, with the advent of printed circuit boards.
Among British rock amps, Marshalls are, arguably, the easiest to live with, in terms of voltage compatibility, ease of repair, and ready availability of parts, tubes, and knowledgeable technicians. The Hollywood Vintage Collection is proud to house a STUNNING selection of early Marshall heads. |

Gibson created the EB (electric bass) series to compete with the Fender Precision & Jazz models in the mid '50's. The EB1 first appeared in 1956. It's violin inspired contours appeared very similar to the classic hofner bass models popularized by the Beatles. The EB2, a semi-hollow body bass was introduced in 1958 and featured rounded Les Paul like contours. This was probably due to influence of the ES335 which was introduced at the same timeframe. Gibson's introduced the EB0 in 1959. The EB3 appeared in 1961 and was a deluxe version of the EB0 with an extra bridge pickup which gave it a much brighter sound. |

Since it's introduction in 1961, there have been numerous models that have carried the SG name. There have been "Standard" and "Jr" model, as well as the top of the line "Custom". Originally, the guitar was called Gibson Les Paul SG, but the "Les Paul" was dropped in late 1961. The SG has been used by many prominent musicians over the years, most notably Angus Young of AC/DC and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. Gibson has offered different variations and finishes on the basic SG body style and continues to manufacture the original designs as well as special editions. |
